To Center or Not? (Spot the Difference)

To center the subject or not? Good question! Whether you literally center the subject in the frame or just point to them with their surroundings, it depends on the circumstance. But keeping the subject the metaphorical center of the photo is something I keep in mind every time I edit.

I want everything in the photo to lead your eyes to the subject. There are many pieces that play into this but one of them is eliminating distractions. I don’t want anything in the photo to distract the viewer from the subjects... that’s YOU!

So when I edit and there’s a trash can in the background or electrical boxes on the wall, my goal is to eliminate them so that your eyes are drawn to the beautiful people in the photo. Not an electrical box!
